The Unwelcomed One, premier opus de The Attic Presence, est à la fois très proche et très loin. La batterie est très étouffée, comme si elle provenait des murs. Les guitares aux mélodies toutes plus maléfiques les unes que les autres ont une puanteur de cave. Quand Lila Starless hurle, on ressent le vide du grenier autour d'elle ; elle utilise rarement sa voix mais quand elle le fait, elle devient une arme — le titre "My Unsettling Presence" n'est d'ailleurs pas exagéré. Un album imposant !
